ASI Security Accessories

ASI (American Specialties) security accessories are restroom and cell fixtures for correctional, detention, and other secure facilities. The category includes stainless steel mirrors, toilet tissue holders, clothes hooks and hook strips, soap dishes, shelves, grab bars, and a shower rod and curtain. The main choice is chase mount versus front mount, which depends on whether maintenance staff can reach the fixture from a service chase behind the wall.

Chase mount or front mount

Chase mount fixtures are fastened from a service chase behind the wall, which keeps mounting fasteners off the occupied side; confirm details on the spec sheet. Choose them when the building has a chase behind the plumbing wall. Front mount fixtures install from the room side and suit walls without chase access, including many retrofits. Confirm the wall construction and mounting method before ordering, because the two can't be swapped after rough-in.

Grab bar lengths should follow the layout of each accessible cell or restroom; check your project's accessibility requirements and wall blocking before choosing lengths.
