Emergency Equipment: Showers, Eyewashes, Alarms and More

Start with the emergency fixture required for the hazard, then match its water-supply, temperature-control and installation needs. Compare showers, eyewashes, eye/face washes, safety stations, portable units and alarms, plus tempering valves and water heaters for a complete emergency-response system.

Choose the Emergency Fixture First

For eye-only exposure, begin with Eyewash Stations. Where the face may also be affected, compare Eye and Face Wash Stations. If the body or clothing could be exposed, use Emergency and Safety Showers; a Safety Station combines shower and eyewash or eye/face-wash functions at one location.

Use Faucet-Mounted Eyewashes for sink-based retrofit and complete faucet assemblies. Choose Portable Eyewash Units when a dependable plumbed supply is unavailable or the work area moves. Outdoor and unconditioned installations may require Freeze-Resistant Safety Equipment rather than a standard indoor fixture.

Then Size the Water System Around the Fixture

A Tempering Valve mixes available hot and cold water for a defined fixture demand; it cannot create heat. An Emergency Water Heater adds heating capacity but must be matched to the connected fixture flow, incoming water temperature and available electrical or steam service.

Before ordering either component, identify the exact fixture, number of outlets that may operate together, available dynamic pressure, pipe run, drainage plan and installation environment. For packaged Haws tempering skids and booths, use Enclosed Safety Showers.
