Laboratory Eyewash, Shower and Safety Units

Laboratory emergency fixtures must fit the bench, sink, wall construction and utility layout without obstructing normal work. Compare Haws sink-, counter-, wall-, recessed-, surface- and ceiling-mounted eye/face washes, showers and combination units, including accessible and drain-pan configurations.

Match the Fixture to the Laboratory

Sink- and counter-mounted washes place emergency flushing at the workstation; verify the selected model’s mounting and clearances. They are useful where the hazard is handled at the bench, but the model’s left/right orientation, swing path, counter thickness and sink clearance must match the casework.

Fully recessed units are appropriate when the wall can be opened and the project needs minimal projection. For Haws 7655WCSM and 8356WCSM, Haws identifies surface mounting for walls that cannot be cut into; verify other models individually. Both surface and recessed equipment require a service-access plan.

Select ceiling or flush-to-ceiling showers only where the overhead structure, supply routing, activation and drainage plan support the exact model. Coordinate them before ceilings are closed.

Resolve Drainage Before Choosing the Cabinet

A recessed eye/face wash or combination unit may use a tailpiece and P-trap, a drain pan, or a daylight-drain arrangement. For the Haws 8356WCDD, the manufacturer describes a daylight-drain configuration for installations where in-wall drainage is unavailable; verify the exact included components and plan the discharge point. Confirm local plumbing requirements and what is included with the exact model.

Match the Fixture to the Room Construction

For wall-integrated showers and washes across multiple brands, compare Recessed Emergency Units. The Haws 7610 is a pull-down, wheelchair-accessible counter or wall-rear-mount option. For sink-based faucet combinations, use Faucet-Mounted Eyewashes. For non-laboratory shower-and-eyewash combinations, compare Safety Stations.
