Faucet-Mounted Eyewashes

Faucet-mounted eyewashes can add emergency flushing at an existing sink, but the models are not interchangeable. Compare retrofit attachments with complete faucet-and-eyewash assemblies, then verify the selected model’s faucet connection, sink or counter requirements, installation clearances, control type, eyewash water supply and tempering requirements.

Retrofit Attachment or Complete Eyewash Faucet?

Choose a retrofit attachment when the existing faucet is compatible, in good condition and located where the eyewash is needed. Verify the spout thread or adaptor, available pressure and activation method before ordering. Guardian G1201 is documented as a supplemental faucet-mounted unit; verify every other attachment model individually rather than assuming it replaces a dedicated eyewash.

Choose a complete faucet-and-eyewash assembly when renovating the sink, when the existing faucet is incompatible, or when the project needs a dedicated eyewash waterway. Chicago Faucets models include retrofit, single-handle, dual-handle and touchless faucet configurations; the control style should be selected for normal sink use, maintenance capability and available power, not as a substitute for checking the eyewash supply.

Why the Waterway Matters

Chicago Faucets 8450 Series models can use a separate eyewash supply connected to an emergency thermostatic mixing valve. Some configurations, including 8450-TE22E7TABCP, list a mixing valve, bypass and additional safety components; verify the exact model’s inlet and included package.

What to Verify at the Sink

  • Existing faucet make, spout thread, hole pattern and counter thickness
  • Clear space for the spray heads, activation handle and the user
  • Manual, wristblade or touchless faucet control and required power
  • Aerated, laboratory-nozzle or laminar outlet needed for normal faucet use
  • Whether a separate emergency tempering valve is part of the design

For a dedicated wall, pedestal or recessed fixture, compare Eyewash Stations instead.
