Freeze-Resistant Emergency Safety Equipment

Choose freeze-resistant emergency equipment for outdoor or unconditioned locations where exposed water can freeze. Compare Guardian and Haws showers, eyewashes, eye/face washes and heated combination stations by freeze-protection method, water-inlet location, electrical needs, construction and alarm options.

Freeze-Resistant or Fully Heated?

Freeze-resistant fixtures protect the water-bearing portion of a shower, eyewash or eye/face wash through the design specified for that model. Fully heated safety stations add an insulated enclosure and electrical heat for more severe conditions. Choose based on the lowest expected ambient temperature and the complete installation—not on the word “outdoor” alone.

A heated station requires suitable power, disconnects and maintenance access. Confirm whether the heat protects the complete enclosure, the piping or only selected components, and verify the model’s hazardous-location classification when the installation area requires one.

Plan the Water Entry and Drain-Down Path

Top- and bottom-inlet models accommodate different site piping. Choose the inlet that avoids exposed, unprotected water lines and fits the foundation or overhead supply route. Freeze-resistant fixtures may also require a specific drain-down arrangement; follow the installation drawing for valve location, burial depth, drainage and pipe insulation.

Add Monitoring Where Response Time Matters

Guardian heated stations are available with no alarm, flow-switch monitoring, horn, light or combined horn/light packages. Choose local notification, remote monitoring or both according to the facility response plan. Confirm voltage, switch contacts and enclosure rating before connecting the station to a building alarm system.
