ASI 7801-18 Omara 18-Inch Straight Grab Bar
This surface-mounted grab bar has a 1-1/2-inch-OD, 18-gauge Type 304 stainless steel tube with a satin finish. Its 16-gauge posts connect to 12-gauge wall flanges. The threaded flange covers conceal the mounting screws and retaining set screws. The tube and posts have heliarc-welded connections.
Installation and accessibility
Install the mounting plates with three 1/4-inch (M6) hex-drive button-head screws per flange (by others) into appropriate blocking. Provide suitable anchoring and backing in accordance with local codes or the project plans before wall finishing; wall attachment is critical to the grab-bar system. ASI states its grab bars are designed to meet and exceed the 2010 ADA Accessibility Standards and ANSI A117.1, and that the fabricated product is to support a load in excess of 250 pounds. The fastener system and wall attachment must be adequately sized for the loads. For the manufacturer's 2010 ADA installation guidance, position the top of the bar 33 to 36 inches above the finished floor. Actual accessibility and support depend on the installation and applicable requirements.
Waterproof screw holes in wet-wall installations. Secure the posts to the mounting plates with the set screws, then thread the flange covers against the wall. Clean with a soft cloth and mild detergent, rinse with a water-moistened cloth, and dry; protect the stainless steel from muriatic acid, caustic or abrasive materials, and harsh detergents.
