ASI 3801-42 42-Inch Straight Grab Bar with Snap Flanges
The ASI 3801-42 is a 42-inch straight grab bar for installations specifying 1-1/2-inch O.D. tubing. Its type 304 stainless steel construction and snap-on covers conceal the mounting screws.
Product specifications
- Tube: 1-1/2-inch O.D. type 304 stainless steel, 18 gauge, with a smooth surface.
- Flange: 1/8-inch thick, with two screw holes; flange diameter is 3-1/8 inches.
- Cover: type 304 stainless steel, 22 gauge, satin finish, and 3-3/16 inches in diameter; it snaps over three locking dimples.
Installation considerations
- Use the bar as a template to mark and pre-drill mounting holes. No. 10 self-tapping pan-head screws and flat washers, or another suitable fastener system, are by others.
- Provide appropriate anchoring and wall backing before wall finishing. ASI anchors are available but must be specified separately.
- ASI states its grab bars are designed to meet and exceed cited accessibility requirements; mounting is critical. Manufacturer guidance for 2010 ADA Accessibility Standards specifies the bar top at 33 to 36 inches above finished floor. Installation and anchoring must suit the project conditions.
