ASI 3702-48P Straight Grab Bar with Intermediate Support
The ASI 3702-48P is a 48-inch straight grab bar for installations requiring an intermediate support. Its 1-1/4-inch outside-diameter Type 304 stainless steel tube has a peened non-slip surface, identified by the -P suffix, and exposed surfaces have a satin finish.
Bar and mounting details
- Tube: 18-gauge Type 304 stainless steel.
- End flanges: 1/8-inch-thick Type 304 stainless steel, 3-1/8 inches in diameter, with two screw holes and three locking dimples.
- Cover: Snap-on Type 304 satin-finish cover, 22 gauge and 3-3/16 inches in diameter, conceals the mounting flange and screws.
- ASI specifies two No. 10 self-tapping pan-head screws and flat washers, or another fastener system suited to the conditions, for each flange; fasteners are by others. Specify ASI anchors separately if needed.
Installation considerations
Provide appropriate backing and anchoring before wall finishing, in accordance with local codes or the project plans. Wall attachment is critical to grab-bar strength, so select a fastener system sized for the installation conditions. For installations intended to comply with the 2010 ADA Accessibility Standards, ASI specifies positioning the top of the bar 33 to 36 inches above the finished floor.
