ASI 3514 Swing-Up Grab Bar, 1-1/2" O.D., Smooth
This Type 304 stainless-steel swing-up grab bar has a satin finish and a smooth 1-1/2"-diameter bar. Three preset detent positions are provided: fully raised, 45 degrees raised, and fully down. It is operated with one hand; internal detent stops provide movement tension. A polymer bumper at the lower bar end prevents banging when lowered, and a solid stop bumper on the mounting plate keeps the raised arm from banging into the wall.
Mounting and operation
The unit is surface mounted through six holes in the wall plate. Provide a concealed anchor plate or blocking before wall finishing, then fasten the plate with appropriate hardware through all six holes. Anchors and mounting hardware are not supplied; the wall attachment and fastener system must be suitable for the installation. ASI states that the fabricated grab bar is designed to support a load in excess of 250 lb, while noting that mounting to the wall is critical to the system. For manufacturer guidance on 2010 ADA Accessibility Standards, install with the top of the horizontal bar 33"–36" above finished floor for adult use; verify project requirements. Factory-set balance tension is not adjustable. The owner should periodically inspect operation and make repairs needed due to adverse environmental conditions.
