ASI 3420 Swing-Up Grab Bar with Support Leg
This surface-mounted bar is fabricated from Type 304 stainless steel, alloy 18-8, with a smooth 1-1/4-inch-OD bar and satin finish. Its 1-1/2-inch tubing hinge has polymer anti-friction bearing plates for quiet, smooth movement and three preset detent stops: full up, 45° raised, and full down. A polymer bumper at the bottom of the bar limits banging when lowered; a bumper on the mounting plate prevents contact with the wall when raised. The support leg retracts automatically when the arm is raised.
Before fastening the unit, use its quick-set lock pin to select the support-leg length for the chosen mounting height. For manufacturer guidance on installation for adults under the 2010 ADA Accessibility Standards, position the top of the horizontal bar 33 to 36 inches above the finished floor. The unit has six mounting holes; concealed anchors or blocking and appropriate mounting hardware are required but not supplied. The wall fastening system and installation must be suitable for the project and local building requirements.
The bar lowers manually into its horizontal support position and is operable with one hand. Balance tension is factory preset and does not require adjustment. Inspect periodically and address repairs needed from environmental conditions.
