ASI 3501-18P 18-Inch Straight Grab Bar with Exposed Flanges
The ASI 3501-18P is an 18-inch straight grab bar for exposed-flange installations where a peened surface is specified. Its -P designation identifies ASI's optional peened, non-slip surface.
Specifications
- Bar length: 18 inches; tubing: 1-1/2-inch outside diameter and 18 gauge.
- Material and finish: Type 304 stainless steel with a satin finish and peened surface.
- Exposed flanges: 3 inches in diameter and 1/8 inch thick.
- Each flange has three countersunk mounting holes for #10 flat-head or oval-head screws, or 1/4-inch pan-head screws; fasteners are not provided.
Mounting and installation
Mounting screws and anchors are not included. Provide suitable backing and an anchoring system for the wall conditions before finishing the wall; ASI notes that the mounting system is critical to grab-bar strength. For the manufacturer's 2010 ADA installation guidance, position the top of the bar 33 to 36 inches above the finished floor. This guidance does not by itself establish that an installation is compliant.
