ASI 3451-P Swing-Up Grab Bar

This surface-mounted swing-up grab bar is made from Type 304 (18-8) stainless steel, with 1-1/4-inch-diameter, 18-gauge tubing and a peened gripping surface. The 7-gauge mounting bracket has six 5/16-inch mounting holes. A hinge on a solid-bar axle uses twin torsion-spring counterbalance; the bar is operable with one hand.

Operation and installation

Lower the bar manually to the horizontal position for use. A gravity lock holds it upright and must be manually released to lower it; a tamper-resistant set screw is provided to lock the bar in the vertical position.

Before wall finishing, provide concealed anchor plate or blocking as required by the construction documents or local codes. The concealed mounting plate or anchors and mounting hardware are not supplied and must be specified separately; the manufacturer lists anchor plate line item 3940. The wall attachment and fasteners must be appropriately sized and installed for the project.
