ASI 3451 Swing-Up Grab Bar
The ASI 3451 is a surface-mounted swing-up grab bar made of Type 304 (18-8) stainless steel with a No. 4 satin finish. The bar is 1-1/4 inches in diameter and 18 gauge. Its 7-gauge mounting bracket has six 5/16-inch mounting holes. A 1-1/4-inch-diameter, 3/16-inch-wall tubing hinge rides on a solid bar axle with twin torsion-spring counterbalance. The welded construction has radiused, burr-free exposed edges and corners; internal mechanisms are captive.
Operation and installation
Lower the bar manually to the horizontal support position. To raise it, lift it to the vertical storage position, where a gravity lock engages automatically; release the lock manually to lower the bar. A tamper-resistant set screw lets the owner lock the bar in the vertical position. The bar is designed for one-hand operation.
Before wall finishing, provide concealed anchor plate or blocking as specified in the construction documents or required by local codes. The concealed mounting plate or anchors and mounting hardware are not supplied and must be specified separately; ASI identifies anchor plate line item 3940. The wall attachment and appropriately sized fasteners are critical to the mounting system.
