ASI 165 24-Inch Front-Mounted Security Grab Bar
This 24-inch front-mounted grab bar has a 1-1/2-inch-diameter, 18-gauge Type 304 stainless steel tube with a satin finish. The flanges are 1/8 inch thick and welded to the tube; a 12-gauge closure plate is welded beneath the bar and includes a drainage system. Each flange has three mounting holes.
Mounting guidance
ASI suggests six 1/4-20 pin-Torx button-head machine screws of adequate length, installed into suitable wall anchors or other prepared mountings. Screws, anchors and other mounting hardware are by others, and the fastening system must suit the wall conditions. ASI’s guidance for the 2010 ADA Accessibility Standards is to install with the top of the grab bar 33 to 36 inches above the finished floor; appropriate mounting is critical to the system’s strength.
