Why Choose the Dyson Airblade dB AB14?
The AB14 is the Dyson Airblade to consider when the hands-in drying experience itself is part of the decision. Users lower their hands into the drying chamber, where high-speed sheets of air remove water from both sides simultaneously. It is one of the most recognizable commercial hand dryer designs and remains very different from Dyson's HU02 and HU03 hands-under models.
Dyson AB14 Features
- Hands-in Airblade design dries both sides of the hands simultaneously
- 11-12 second rated dry time
- 1,000W rated power
- No conventional heating element
- Sealed HEPA filtration
- 99.97% particle capture down to 0.3 microns from air passing through the filter
- Touch-free infrared activation
- Polycarbonate-ABS casing for commercial use
- IP35 water ingress protection
- Low- and high-voltage versions for different commercial electrical systems
Dyson AB14 Low Voltage vs. High Voltage
The current gray AB14 is available in two electrical configurations. The drying format and overall user experience are the same, but the correct version must match the building's electrical service.
Always confirm the building voltage before ordering. The low- and high-voltage versions are not interchangeable simply because they are otherwise the same AB14 design.
HEPA-Filtered Air
The Dyson Airblade dB AB14 uses a sealed HEPA filter to filter the restroom air used during drying. Dyson specifies that the filter captures 99.97% of particles down to 0.3 microns from the air passing through the filtration system.
HEPA filtration should be understood as an air-filtration feature rather than a claim that the dryer disinfects a user's hands or sterilizes the restroom. Proper handwashing, thorough drying, cleaning and maintenance remain important.
The Iconic Hands-In Airblade Experience
The AB14 is the design many people still picture when they hear the words Dyson Airblade. Instead of placing the hands underneath a wall-mounted dryer, users lower both hands into a vertical drying chamber.
Narrow sheets of high-speed air remove water from both sides as the hands are drawn upward. The experience is visually and physically different from conventional hands-under dryers, including Dyson's HU02 and HU03.
Our View of the AB14
We recommend the AB14 when the customer specifically wants the distinctive hands-in Dyson experience. For a more conventional hands-under dryer, especially where compact wall dimensions or traffic flow are higher priorities, we often begin with the Dyson Airblade V HU02 instead.
Dyson AB14 vs. Dyson HU02
The AB14 and Dyson Airblade V HU02 are both current Airblade models, but they provide very different restroom experiences.

Dyson AB14 and ADA Installation
The AB14 projects farther from the wall than Dyson's slim hands-under models. That does not automatically mean the dryer cannot be used in an accessibility-conscious installation.
Dyson provides installation guidance showing how the AB14 can meet protruding-object requirements when installed so the applicable portion of the dryer is within the cane-detectable zone. This allows a person using a cane to detect the unit before body contact.
Accessibility depends on the complete installation, including mounting height, circulation path, surrounding fixtures and applicable project requirements. Always review current installation instructions and accessibility requirements before installation.
Where Does the Dyson AB14 Make Sense?
Premium commercial restrooms: The distinctive hands-in design can be an important part of the restroom experience.
Hotels, hospitality and entertainment venues: Facilities may prefer the AB14 when appearance and user experience matter as much as basic drying performance.
Offices and corporate facilities: The hands-in design can provide a recognizable premium fixture for employee and visitor restrooms.
Schools, airports, stadiums and high-traffic facilities: The AB14 can be used in busy restrooms, although we also evaluate traffic flow, dryer quantity, wall space and competing high-speed dryers before making a recommendation.
A Brief History of the Dyson AB14
The hands-in Airblade design became one of Dyson's most recognizable commercial products. The AB14 was later removed from the U.S. lineup for a period before returning to the current Airblade range.
Today, we treat the AB14 as a current product rather than a relaunch story. Its main reason for existing in the Dyson lineup is straightforward: it provides the distinctive hands-in experience that neither the HU02 nor HU03 is designed to replicate.
Dyson AB14 Warranty
Current ProDryers AB14 product documentation lists a 5-year parts warranty with first-year limited labor coverage. Warranty terms should always be confirmed against the documentation supplied with the exact product purchased.
