Dyson Airblade dB AB14
Dyson engineered the Airblade dB to reduce unwanted motor and airflow noise while retaining the distinctive hands-in Airblade drying design.
Reduced air rush noise:
Airblade technology directs high-speed sheets of air through narrow apertures to remove water from the hands. Dyson redesigned the airflow system to help reduce the sound produced during operation.
Reduced motor noise:
Dyson acoustic engineers also made improvements to the sound generated by the Dyson digital motor V4.
Dyson Digital Motor V4
The Dyson Airblade dB AB14 uses the Dyson digital motor V4, a brushless DC motor that spins at up to 90,000 rpm and powers airflow of up to 27 liters per second.

The AB14 is rated at 1,000 watts and does not use a conventional heating element. Instead, the motor powers high-speed sheets of air that remove water from the hands.
Tough and Durable
The Dyson Airblade dB hand dryer is engineered for commercial environments and frequent use. Its polycarbonate-ABS casing, galvanized steel back plate and anti-tamper exterior screw are designed for durability.

Because the AB14 uses high-speed airflow rather than a conventional heating element, it eliminates one component commonly found in traditional warm-air hand dryers.
Designed for Efficient Operation
The Dyson Airblade dB uses a 1,000-watt motor and has a standby power consumption of less than 0.5 watts. Its high-speed airflow is designed to provide a short drying cycle without a heating element.
11-12 Second Dry Time
Dyson lists an 11-12 second hand dry time for the Airblade dB AB14. The dry time is measured using Dyson test method 769, which is based on NSF Protocol P335.
Airblade technology directs high-speed sheets of air across both sides of the hands as they are lowered through the drying chamber.
HEPA Filtration
The Dyson Airblade dB AB14 uses a sealed HEPA filter to filter the air used during the drying process. Dyson specifies that the filter removes 99.97% of particles as small as 0.3 microns.
The dryer also uses touch-free infrared activation, so users do not need to press a button to start the drying cycle.
