ASI 3701-30P 30-Inch Peened Straight Grab Bar
The ASI 3701-30P is a 30-inch straight grab bar with 1-1/4-inch O.D. tubing and a peened surface for the manufacturer's non-slip option. Snap-on flange covers conceal the mounting screws.
Product specifications
- Tubing: type 304 stainless steel, 18 gauge; the -P suffix identifies the peened option.
- Flange: 1/8 inch thick, 3-1/8 inches in outside diameter, with two screw holes and three locking dimples.
- Cover: type 304 stainless steel, 22 gauge, with a satin finish; cover diameter is 3-3/16 inches.
Mounting considerations
Use the bar as a template to mark and pre-drill mounting holes. The manufacturer specifies two #10 self-tapping pan-head screws and flat washers, or another fastener system suited to the conditions at each flange; these are by others. Provide appropriate anchoring and backing before wall finishing. ASI anchors must be specified separately. Manufacturer installation guidance for 2010 ADA Accessibility Standards calls for the top of the bar to be 33 to 36 inches above finished floor; installation and wall mounting affect whether the requirements are met.
