ASI 3401-42 42-Inch Exposed-Flange Straight Grab Bar
The ASI 3401-42 is a 42-inch straight grab bar with exposed mounting flanges. It has a 1-1/4-inch outside-diameter, 18-gauge Type 304 stainless steel tube with a satin finish.
Specifications
- Exposed flanges are 3 inches in diameter and 1/8 inch thick.
- Each flange has three countersunk mounting holes for #10 self-tapping flat- or oval-head screws or 1/4-inch pan-head screws.
- Mounting screws are not provided.
Mounting and placement
Use three #10 self-tapping flat- or oval-head screws, or another suitable fastener system, for each flange. Provide appropriate anchoring and wall backing for site conditions before wall finishing; mounting is critical to the bar’s strength. ASI’s installation guidance for the 2010 ADA Accessibility Standards specifies positioning the top of the bar 33 to 36 inches above the finished floor. Confirm wall conditions and project requirements when selecting the fastener system.
