ASI 3401-36 36-Inch Exposed-Flange Straight Grab Bar
The ASI 3401-36 is a 36-inch straight grab bar for exposed-flange wall mounting. It has a 1-1/4-inch outside-diameter Type 304 stainless steel tube with a satin finish; the exposed flanges remain visible after installation.
Specifications and installation
- Bar: 1-1/4-inch O.D., 18-gauge Type 304 stainless steel tubing with satin finish.
- Flanges: Exposed, 3-inch diameter and 1/8-inch thick, with three countersunk mounting holes per flange.
- Fasteners: Holes accommodate No. 10 self-tapping flat- or oval-head screws or 1/4-inch pan-head screws. Screws are not provided; ASI calls for three screws per flange or another fastening system suited to the conditions.
- Wall preparation: Provide appropriate anchoring and backing before finishing the wall. The fastener system and wall attachment are critical to supporting the installed bar.
- Installation height: For installations intended to comply with the 2010 ADA Accessibility Standards, ASI specifies the top of the bar at 33 to 36 inches above the finished floor. Compliance depends on the complete installation, including anchorage.
