ASI 3401-12 Straight Grab Bar with Exposed Flanges
The ASI 3401-12 is a 12-inch straight grab bar for wall installations using exposed flanges. Its 1-1/4-inch outside-diameter Type 304 stainless steel tube has a satin finish; the flanges are continuously welded to the bar.
Product specifications
- 12-inch (305 mm) bar length and 1-1/4-inch (32 mm) outside diameter.
- Type 304 alloy 18-8 stainless steel tubing, 18 gauge (0.048 inch/1.2 mm), with a satin finish.
- Two 3-inch (76 mm) diameter flanges, each 1/8 inch (3 mm) thick.
- Each flange has three countersunk 9/32-inch (7 mm) holes for 1/4-inch pan-head or No. 10 self-tapping flat-head or oval-head screws.
- Mounting screws are not provided.
Installation guidance
Use the bar as a template to mark and pre-drill mounting holes. Provide appropriate anchoring and backing for the wall conditions before finishing the wall, and select a fastener system suitable for each flange. The manufacturer’s installation guidance referencing the 2010 ADA Accessibility Standards specifies positioning the top of the bar 33 to 36 inches above the finished floor; this is installation guidance, not a blanket compliance determination.
