ASI 0119 Semi-Recessed Mounting Box for TURBO-Dri Hand Dryer
The ASI 0119 is a white semi-recessed mounting box for the ASI Model 0197-1/2 TURBO-Dri hand dryer. The manufacturer states that it reduces the dryer's wall protrusion to less than 4 inches, meeting 2010 ADA Accessibility Standards barrier-free requirements. The dryer is not supplied with the mounting box.
Fit and installation requirements
- Mounting box dimensions: 12 inches wide by 17 inches high by 3-9/16 inches deep.
- Minimum rough wall opening (RWO): 10-3/4 inches wide by 16-3/8 inches high by 3-3/4 inches deep.
- For the manufacturer's 2010 ADA installation guidance, locate the bottom of the rough wall opening no higher than 44 inches above finished floor (AFF); for CalDAG guidance, no higher than 36 inches AFF. These are installation-position instructions, not a blanket compliance determination.
- Install the box in the wall recess with #10 fasteners appropriate to wall conditions; the installer supplies the fasteners. Electrical service must be handled by a qualified electrician using the provided knockouts and an appropriate installer-supplied connector, with a 14-inch pull left rough.
- Install the dryer chassis after the box is in place. The manufacturer specifies securing and terminating the stub cable at the dryer chassis and installing the dryer cover after electrical hookup.
The box remains integral to the wall framing, with no moving or adjustable parts requiring owner access. Keep the cover's air-intake louvers clean on a regular maintenance schedule. Manufacturer warranty: one year from invoice date.
