This isn't a list built from online star ratings or an assumption about which dryers sell the most across the entire United States. We don't have access to audited industry-wide unit sales, and this article should not be read as a national sales ranking.

Our picks are based on our experience selling commercial hand dryers since 2003, customer feedback, warranty and support experience, product demonstrations, repeat purchases and what we would actually recommend for different types of facilities.

If someone asks us for one commercial hand dryer to start with, the Excel Dryer XLERATOR is still our first answer in many situations.

The XLERATOR helped redefine the commercial hand dryer market around high-speed drying, and it has something newer products cannot manufacture overnight: a long track record in real commercial restrooms.

Current XLERATOR models are rated for an 8-second dry time and offer adjustable speed and sound control, adjustable heat settings and a variety of cover finishes. HEPA filtration is also available.

Dyson specifies a 12-second dry time, and the HU02 uses HEPA-filtered air. In our experience, it is also one of the easier Dyson formats to work into a busy commercial restroom because users approach it much like a conventional hands-under dryer.

The Saniflow Dualflow Plus earns its place because it approaches hand drying differently from most wall-mounted high-speed dryers.

Users place their hands inside the drying chamber and move them vertically through the airflow. The Dualflow Plus is designed for demanding commercial environments and includes HEPA filtration and water collection rather than simply directing water toward the wall or floor.

It is a particularly interesting alternative when a facility specifically wants a hands-in drying experience but does not want to limit the search to Dyson.

If there is one dryer on this list that deserves more attention than it usually receives, it is the World Dryer VERDEdri.

VERDEdri combines several things commercial buyers often try to find in separate products: fast drying, HEPA filtration, adjustable operation, vandal-resistant construction, universal-voltage capability and a shallow surface-mounted profile designed for ADA-compliant installations when properly mounted.

World Dryer specifies drying in as little as 12 seconds. The speed can also be adjusted, giving facilities more flexibility to balance performance and sound for the restroom environment.

ASI hand dryers make this list for a different reason than XLERATOR or Dyson.

ASI is a major commercial washroom-accessory manufacturer, so its dryers can fit naturally into larger restroom specifications that may also include dispensers, mirrors, partitions, grab bars and other coordinated equipment.

The line gives architects, contractors and facility buyers several hand dryer configurations to consider, including compact, high-speed and recessed options for projects where mounting style or wall projection matters.

A numbered list is useful, but the number beside a dryer shouldn't make the final decision for your facility.

The right choice depends on what problem you are trying to solve.
