ASI 3801-18-41 18-Inch Straight Grab Bar
This surface-mounted straight grab bar is 18 inches long, with smooth 18-gauge Type 304 stainless steel tubing measuring 1-1/2 inches in outside diameter. The bar has a matte black powder-coated finish and 1-1/2 inches of wall clearance.
The snap-on cover conceals the mounting screws. The Type 304 stainless steel mounting flange is 3-1/8 inches in diameter and 1/8 inch thick, with two screw holes and three locking dimples. The Type 304 stainless steel cover is 22 gauge and 3-3/16 inches in diameter.
Installation and care
Use the bar to mark and pre-drill the mounting holes. Install with two #10 self-threading flat- or oval-head screws, or another suitable fastener system; fasteners are by others. Appropriate anchoring and backing must be provided in accordance with local building codes or the architect’s plans before wall finishing. ASI anchors are available and must be specified separately. For the manufacturer’s 2010 ADA Accessibility Standards installation guidance, position the top of the bar 33 to 36 inches above the finished floor.
Clean accessible surfaces with mild liquid soap only, then wipe and dry. In shower areas, provide outside ventilation. Do not use abrasive powders or scouring pads, water closet or ceramic tile cleaners, solutions containing more than 1% ammonia, acids, lye, or enzymes.
