ASI 3457 54" x 42" Exposed-Flange Horizontal Grab Bar
The ASI 3457 is a smooth, 1-1/4" O.D. horizontal grab bar in a 54" x 42" configuration. It has type 304 stainless steel tubing with a satin finish and 1/8"-thick exposed mounting flanges.
Product and installation details
- The tubing is 18 gauge; each 3"-diameter flange has three drilled and countersunk mounting holes.
- Mounting screws are not included. ASI specifies three #10 self-tapping flat-head or oval-head screws, or 1/4" pan-head screws, at each flange; another fastener system may be selected to suit installation conditions.
- Provide appropriate anchoring and wall backing before wall finishing. Anchors are available from ASI but must be specified separately.
- ASI's installation guidance for the 2010 ADA Accessibility Standards calls for the top of the grab bar to be 33"–36" above the finished floor. This is manufacturer guidance, not a blanket compliance determination; fastening and installation conditions are also important.
