ASI 0698 Surface-Mounted Fold-Down Utility Shelf
The Type 304 stainless steel shelf has a satin finish and raised rim to help keep objects from slipping off. Its captive internal spring counterbalance is intended for heavy-duty service. Lower the shelf manually; a weight of approximately 8–10 oz, such as a pocketbook or small package, holds it in the operating position. It returns to vertical when unloaded.
Dimensions and construction
When open, the shelf measures 5-13/16 inches wide x 2-1/8 inches high x 15-5/8 inches long; when folded, it measures 5-13/16 inches wide x 15-5/8 inches high x 2-1/16 inches deep. The shelf is 18-gauge Type 304 stainless steel, and the bracket is 14-gauge Type 304 stainless steel. ASI reports testing the shelf to support a 170 lb vertical load.
Installation
This unit is surface-mounted. The installer must provide hardware suited to the wall or toilet-partition installation and ensure the mounting configuration complies with local building codes.
